YOUR HOLIDAYS AT THE HOTEL VILLA ROSSI

Romagna Inland

Thanks to its location and geography, Romagna is the perfect place in which to combine a “sea and sand” holiday with a cultural vacation and contact with nature. Romagna is ready to welcome you and reveal the wonders of its hills.

The Republic of San Marino

Una delle rocche di San Marino

The Serenissima Republic of San Marino, usually just simply called San Marino, is one of the most typical attractions of the interior of Romagna.
Its medieval atmosphere, typical alleyways and multitude of shops of all kinds appeal to thousands of tourists every year.
Its three strongholds (La Rocca also called Guaita, La Cesta and Il Montale) that rise above the highest points of the Titano mountain are the identifying symbol of this Republic and offer, besides a glimpse of history, fantastic views over the coast of Romagna and the rolling Romagnolo hills.

Santarcangelo di Romagna

Santarcangelo di Romagna

All those who visit Santarcangelo di Romagna are fascinated by its atmosphere, its narrow streets, its monuments, its peaceful and romantic air. The heart of the ancient town sits on a soft hill called Colle Giove, which, even today can be recognised for its typical construction as a fortified medieval town, dominated by the imposing fortress called Rocca Malatestiana.
All the historic centre is alive, with its well-tended houses and mansions, wonderful restaurants and taverns and narrow streets leading to small piazzas brimming with life.
Some of the most representative monuments are the Campanone Tower which dominates Santarcangelo from above, Piazza delle Monache, Piazzetta Galassi, Porta Cervese, and the Malatestiana Fortress, adjacent to the Capuchin Monastery. Finally, don’t miss the Arch of Pope Clement XIV, which provides monumental access to the town’s main square. Every year since 1971 has seen, in the month of July, the International Festival of Theatre in the Square, known for its avant-garde presentations of theatre in the square and certainly worth a visit.

San Leo

La rocca di San Leo

San Leo is located at 583 metres above sea level in the Val Malrecchia on an enormous rocky promontory emerging from insurmountable surroundings. A path carved out of rock provides the only access. On the highest point of the outcropping is the impregnable Fortress, where the Count of Cagliostro was imprisoned until he died in 1795 and Felice Orsini (1844).
A noteworthy architectural heritage is preserved here: a pre-Roman church, a 12th century Lombardy Roman Cathedral, the Fortress itself, a Museum of Sacred Art, recently installed in the Palazzo Mediceo, and ruins of different castles around the town.
The view that can be enjoyed from San Leo is one of the most beautiful and typical of the Region: it spreads across the surrounding hills, along the valley of Marecchia, to the sea.

Gradara

Il borgo di Gradara

È un incantevole borgo dall’aria antica e dal sapore unico, in cui vive la leggenda che proprio qui Paolo e Francesca abbiano vissuto il loro tragico amore, cantato da Dante. This is an enchanting town with an ancient air and unique flavour, where the legend of Dante’s Paolo and Francesca and their love is still alive. Strolling through the streets or along its walls, especially on a summer night, the atmosphere is really splendid. Knowledgeably illuminated and surrounded by centuries’ old oaks, the fortress provides lovers with a unique, romantic framework, filled with poetry and history against the backdrop of a magnificent landscape.
Not to be missed also: the circular paths along the 14th century walls that surround the town and afford a beautiful view; the History Museum (Museo Storico) filled with instruments of torture and medieval armour; the Church of San Giovanni and the Olive Garden on via Cappucini.

    FAMILY CRIPPA FROM BERGAMO

“Hotel clean and newly refurbished… Very important in my opinion is the gate that prevents children from ending up in the street. I want to stress this because other facilities always there in the area do not have it … I will definitely go back there. A hug to all the staff”
