San Leo is located at 583 metres above sea level in the Val Malrecchia on an enormous rocky promontory emerging from insurmountable surroundings. A path carved out of rock provides the only access. \nA noteworthy architectural heritage is preserved here: a pre-Roman church, a 12th century Lombardy Roman Cathedral, the Fortress itself, a Museum of Sacred Art, recently installed in the Palazzo Mediceo, and ruins of different castles around the town.
